Firm asks local students: What makes your house a home?

Posted by on Sep 19, 2007 in Coldwell Banker Apex, Sellers | 0 comments

To find out the role a home plays in a child’s life, Coldwell Banker Apex Realtors is asking Dallas-Fort Worth students in kindergarten through eighth grade to enter the national Coldwell Banker “My Home: The American Dream” contest.

Developed by Scholastic and Coldwell Banker, the contest asks students to explain, through images or words, how they make where they live home. Children who enter may choose to focus on one of the following subject cues: “How does your home fit into your version of the American Dream?” “What is your family’s heritage, and how do you celebrate it?” and “What have your parents, grandparents and other family members taught you about the meaning of home?”

Entries may be submitted in the form of a short film on DVD or VHS; a storyboard, comic book or series of photographs with text; or an essay accompanied by illustrations.

“This contest has really taught all of us at Coldwell Banker Apex Realtors that our hard work makes an impact in the Dallas-Fort Worth area,” says Lori Arnold, president of the firm.

Three grand prize-winning students will receive $2,000 for excellence in creativity and innovation. Fifty finalists will be awarded $100 prizes. Also an additional category has been created and will award a $250 cash prize to the winning classroom. All entries must be postmarked by Dec. 7, 2007.

Full contest details and official rules will be published in the September 2007 issues of Instructor magazine and on www.scholastic.com/instructor and www.coldwellbanker.com/americandream. The contest is open to residents of the United States who currently attend kindergarten through eighth grade, as well as children in those age ranges who are home-schooled.

Coldwell Banker Rea Estate Corp. announced the top companies in the nation for midyear recently, according to Tom Lainson, account executive for Coldwell Banker.

“It is an incredible achievement to make it into the top levels of production within the Coldwell Banker system nationwide,” Mr. Lainson says. “We are very proud of Coldwell Banker Apex and this achievement.” Coldwell Banker Apex Realtors was recently recognized as the 11th-largest Coldwell Banker affiliate in the nation, based on closed business year to date. The company also had multiple offices recognized for individual top production.

“Our associates are some of the hardest-working Realtors you will find anywhere, and that is exactly what it takes to compete at this level,” Lori Arnold, president of Coldwell Banker Apex Realtors, says. “We are so proud of each one of them and the dedication they exhibit every day in serving our customers.”

Two offices were recognized in the Top 100 affiliate offices nationwide. The Rowlett office was recognized as 46th out of more than 2,700 offices, and the Rockwall office was recognized as No. 57.

“This ranking includes all size offices, and often our offices are competing with other offices that are triple their size,” Mrs. Arnold says. “The Rowlett and Rockwall offices do a fabulous job and have one of the highest per-person productivity rates you will see anywhere in the nation.”

The Rockwall office is managed by Julie Gezella and recently relocated to a new expanded space on Ridge Road. The Rowlett office is managed by Sarah Lee and has long been a top-producing office nationwide, including earning the No. 1 office (by size) internationally category, which includes all Coldwell Banker offices, several years ago. It also earned the recognition midyear as the No. 6 affiliate in its size category.
